Mail standards

Pocketmail implements a defined IMAP4rev1 profile. The project documents what works, how it was tested and what remains open.

Message storage and IMAP

APPEND stores a message with its supplied flags and internal date. COPY and UID COPY create independent mailbox entries. EXPUNGE and CLOSE remove messages marked Deleted. Uploads are capped at 25 MiB. The current profile provides INBOX only. RFC 3501

Responsibility after acceptance

The Cloudflare ingress queue has no time-based expiry. The NAS acknowledges only after local delivery, quarantine, or durable forward queuing. A failure that requires intervention remains a recovery case. Automatic sender non-delivery reports remain open. RFC 5321 §6.1

Interoperability limits

Postfix provides SMTP in the standalone configuration. IMAP4rev2, arbitrary folders, independent client certification, and public MX deliverability are outside the verified profile. Domain authentication depends on the deployment.
